“I want to congratulate the Illinois legislature for passing and Gov. JB Pritzker for signing into law voting rights legislation that will make democracy more real in Illinois today. These new laws expand voting rights, civic engagement, education and rehabilitation for those in the criminal justice system.
In contrast to racial discrimination in voting and voter suppression, Illinois chooses to go in a more constructive direction and along a more democratic path by expanding access to the vote into the criminal justice system,” Rev Jackson wrote in his statement of congratulations to the Illinois legislature and to Governor Pritzker.
