Rev. Jackson, staff to hold special tribute to Kobe Bryant
Chicago, IL: Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. and staff are holding a special tribute for the legendary Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, who along with seven others died in a helicopter crash last Monday, in discussing the value of the super star’s life and why so many are touched by his untimely death.
The 10 a.m. tribute will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters, 930 E. 50th St.
A panel of experts, comprised of WBBM-TV/CBS 2 Chicago Ryan Baker, Jonathan Jackson, the national spokesperson for the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Rev. Dr. Todd Yeary, vice president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and events promoter, Kelly Shannon, will discuss why the beloved Bryant was so special to people beyond the nation’s boundaries. The panel will be moderated by Fox 32 anchor/reporter Tia Ewing.
Saying the iconic NBA legend, devoted father, 5-time champion, 18-time All Star, Oscar winner, children’s book author, women’s basketball advocate and businessman’s life “went beyond the field,” Rev. Jackson added, “We embrace him on and off the field. We honor him.”
In addition the more than 50 member choir, headed by Bishop Jerome, pastor of the Beacon of Light Ministries, will sing Saturday.
