REV. JACKSON TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE 11:30 A.M. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2019, ON THE BUFFALO WILD WINGS RACIAL INCIDENT

Chicago: Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. is holding an 11:30 a.m. press conference Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, 930 E. 50th St., with the family involved in the racial incident that occurred at the Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurant in Naperville.

Rev. Jackson will be joined by Mary and Justin Vahl, their family and attorney Cannon Lambert.

On October 26, 2019 at the Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurant, 2555 W. 75th St., The Vahl’s and 16 other members of their party were told they could not sit in the original area where they were to be seated because of two “regular customers,” a white couple, who did not want African Americans sitting near them.

Rev. Jackson said the restaurant staff’s action at the Naperville franchise was an indication of a systemic problem lacking diversity and inclusion.

Rev. Jackson wrote a letter to both the Buffalo Wild Wings and the parent company, Inspire brands Inc. stating, “It is critical for us to understand the current state of racial diversity at Inspire Brands, Inc. and its affiliate brands. This would include diversity on the board of directors, in the C-suite—vertical and horizontal employment numbers and procurement spent in both goods.”

Rev. Jackson will outline the Rainbow PUSH Coalition’s plan to achieve equity, parity and inclusion at every level of employment with the Inspire Brands and Buffalo Wild Wings Corp.
