March of Presidential Candidates Continues at Rainbow PUSH Coalition Convention


On Monday, July 1, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will join the wave of presidential hopefuls attending the 2019 Rainbow PUSH Coalition Convention in Chicago.


Mayor de Blasio will introduce his wife, mental health care advocate Chirlane McCray, the keynote speaker for the convention’s International Women’s Luncheon at the Sheraton Grand Chicago, 301 E. North Water Street.


The luncheon will be from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.


Ms. McCray is the founder of the Cities Thrive Coalition, which brings together some of the nation’s best thinkers and experts on mental health to discuss best practices and to lobby local, state and federal officials to make mental health care a top priority.


Presidential candidate, author and peace activist, Marianne Williamson, will also attend the convention Monday and address the Health Day Leaders Breakfast 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Sheraton Grand.


Dr. Patrice Harris, a psychiatrist and the first African American woman president of the American Medical Association; Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL) and Dr. Niva Lubin-Johnson, president National Medical Association will be featured speakers at the breakfast with Rainbow PUSH Coalition founder and president, Rev. Jess L. Jackson, Sr.


The wave of presidential candidates will continue Tuesday, July 2 – the last day of the convention – when hopeful Mayor Pete Buttigieg, of South Bend, Indiana, will address the Business Breakfast 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Grand.


Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot will also deliver remarks during the breakfast. The powerful House Majority Whip, South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn, is scheduled to attend.


Former Vice President Joe Biden spoke at the convention Friday, the first day of the 5-day gathering of civil rights icons, business executives, labor leaders, foreign dignitaries, gospel giants, sports legends, scholars and students.


On Saturday, presidential hopefuls Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) each addressed the convention.
