CHICAGO:  Leading by example, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. will cast his early vote 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners’ office, 16 West Adams, after the weekly Rainbow PUSH Coalition broadcast, calling on others to follow suit.

A bus will leave from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters, 930 E. 50th St., Chicago, Il, at 12:30 p.m.

Early voting began last Monday at 51 locations in Chicago where voter registration is also being offered. “There is no excuse not to vote in this important election,” said Rev. Jackson. “If you want change, use the power of your vote to make it a reality.”

“The Civil Rights battle for equity and fairness was based on the decades-long fight for the right to vote,” Rev. Jackson says. “Many people, black and white, were beaten by police and thugs, some killed, fighting for our right to vote. We must never forget that terrible history or on whose shoulders we stand on today.”

Each early voting site will be open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday’s from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through March 19th.

Early voting will also be offered on March 14 through March 16 at Northeastern Illinois University, the University of Illinois at Chicago and Chicago State University.

“We no longer have a Bull Connor or George Wallace standing in the door of opportunity or threatening bodily harm,” said Rev. Jackson. “There is no excuse not to vote.”
