Kimberly Marcus, executive director of the Rainbow PUSH Public Policy Institute and Telecommunications Project is refreshing the scope of the RPC Public Policy Institute having expanded her responsibilities to include government relations liaison over the past several months.
“I am extremely confident in Kimberly Marcus’ leadership and admire her initiative,” Rev. Jackson stated. “She brings a wealth of experience, dedication and commitment to her position and will strengthen Rainbow PUSH connections throughout the progressive community.”
Since joining the Rainbow PUSH Public Policy staff, an initiative of Citizenship Education fund in 2006, Mrs. Marcus has led the organization in acting as the key liaison between the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), telecommunications corporations, consumer advocacy organizations, and media and telecommunications unions.
As the executive director of the Public Policy Institute, Government Relations and Telecommunications Project, Mrs. Marcus’ goal is to continue fighting for economic sovereignty and equal opportunity for minorities. In the expansion of her position she acts as the organizations liaison to White House officials, the Senate and Congress.
“My ultimate goal is for the Rainbow PUSH Public Policy Institute to be heard on crucial issues such as affirmative action, equal employment protection, access to quality education, gun violence, ending racial profiling, broadband deployment, green jobs, access to comprehensive healthcare, voting rights protection, and a host of other civil rights enforcement, expansion and protection issues”, Marcus said.
Mrs. Marcus’ position as executive director for the Rainbow PUSH Public Policy Institute adds to her list of previous work in nonprofit management and diversity and inclusion. She is the former director of economic development for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Baltimore, MD and principle of KC Consulting a diversity firm in Waldorf, MD.
Mrs. Marcus has over ten years of combined experience in corporate and nonprofit, concentrating in the areas of public policy, corporate and community relations, media relations, strategic planning, economic development, corporate philanthropy, fundraising and business development.
