Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., Rainbow PUSH Coalition and the Lawyers     Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law proclaim “Victory!

Marissa Alexander Released for Thanksgiving

Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. visits with Marissa Alexander on July 16, 2013 in Jacksonville, Fl.

(Saturday November 30th, 2013)

Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. and the members of Rainbow PUSH Coalition join with Attorney  Barbara Arnwine National Executive Director of the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law, and the “Free Marissa Now Campaign” in celebrating the freedom of Marissa Alexander on bond in time to share Thanksgiving with her family. Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. reminds us that Ms. Alexander has been victimized twice -- once by her abusive ex-husband and again by the state of Florida, which held her in custody for nearly three years for taking a stand in self-defense from her abusive ex husband.

The battle on behalf of Merissa Alexander is not over.  We urge the Florida State Prosecutor, Angela Corey, to drop all charges against Marissa Alexander and not retry this case. We urge the members of the Florida Legislature  to rescind  its  “Stand Your Ground” legislation used to unfairly convict Marissa.

We urge the people around the nation to continue  to support the “Free Marissa Now Mobilization Campaign” by organizing, educating and keeping the pressure on members of Florida's criminal justice system and individual legislators.

Write to the .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to get involved in the mobilization campaign.
