REV JESSE JACKSON, SR AND RAINBOW PUSH COALITION HONOR AND CELBRATE OUTSTANDING FATHERS DURING SATURDAY MORNING FORUM

 

Chicago  (Friday, June 14, 2013)— Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. and  Rainbow PUSH Coalition will celebrate and stress the importance of  fatherhood during the Saturday Morning Forum on Saturday June 15, 2013 in honor of Father’s Day. Rainbow PUSH Coalition Founder and President the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., will deliver a message of encouragement and appreciation to all fathers around the world.

 

The Rainbow PUSH Coalition will also honor twelve dedicated fathers during the broadcast with the "Outstanding Father of the Community” award. Leaders from various realms of education, labor, business, religion and public policy will be highlighted. Honorees include Larry Thomas, Sr.  Brandon Johnson, Calvin Jordan, Rev. Dr. A.E. Davis, St. John Baptist Church, Father Jose Landaverde, Pastor of Mission of Guadalupe, Chicago Alderman Howard Brookins Jr.,  Chicago Alderman Robert Fioretti, State Representative Ken Dunkin and the leadership of the African- American Fraternities representing Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi and Phi Beta Sigma.

           

Reverend Jackson extended his praise for Fathers by adding:

 

 “Fathers, I encourage you to hold your heads up. Stay proud and stay focused on the things that are most important. Don't give up. Your children love you regardless of difficulties you may be facing in life. Despite the majority of African American households being headed by single African-American women, there are still great African American fathers. Men play a pivotal role in a child's life. If you do not tell them their worth, then they will not know it."
