Passing of heavyweight champion Ken Norton

Chicago, IL (September 17, 2013) –Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. and Rainbow PUSH Coalition lament the passing of heavyweight champion Ken Norton.

Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. further remarked:

“Today I am saddened to hear about the passing of a real champion, Ken Norton. We shall never forget the classic fight trilogy between he and Muhammad Ali as it will be forever be etched as one of the greatest moments in sports history. Many will also remember Ken Norton as an actor. He read Napoleon Hill’s “ Think and Grow Rich” over one hundred times and because of its mantras never lost sight of his dreams. Ken Norton gives credence to “the ground being no place for a champion”. Ken Norton, therefore, continued to rise despite the obstacles he faced.

I send my condolences to his family and especially to his son who carries on the champion- in- sports legacy as Ken Norton Jr. also excelled and continues to excel in sports as a noted linebacker, Pro-Bowl player and assistant coach”.
