Saturday August 25, 2012, Rev. Jackson joined leaders from the local Sikh community to discuss the recent rise in violence and hate crimes across the country. On 90 degree sunny day, Reverend Jesse Jackson & the Sikh community joined hands to march against the recent and continuing violence in the nation.
These dangerous weapons have no sporting or civilian use and their only purpose it to kill many people in a short amount of time. We support legislation to ban all assault weapons. 20% of all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty are killed with assault weapons.
Assault weapons look scary and are scary because they are equipped with combat hardware. Combat features like high-capacity ammunition magazines, pistol grips, folding stocks, and bayonets, which are not found on sporting guns, are designed specifically to facilitate the killing of human beings in battle.
